The woke chief prosecutor in Virginia who repeatedly dropped charges against a violent migrant who allegedly butchered a woman at a bus stop received hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from arch-leftist financier George Soros.
Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano got more than $650,000 from Soros-funded groups in his successful 2019 bid to oust former Fairfax County CA Raymond F. Morrogh in the Democratic primary, public records revealed.
Descano received $601,153 from the Soros-funded Justice and Public Safety PAC in that race along with $57,685 from his second-biggest donor, the Virginia-based group New Va Majority, according to public records.
New Va Majority received a million-dollar grant via Soros’ Open Society Policy Center in 2019, and has received more than $1 million in Soros funds since then.
Descano got $26,500 from the Justice and Public Safety PAC and $56,293 from New Va Majority for his 2023 re-election campaign, records show.
The heavy Soros donations were almost unheard of for a local race involving a commonwealth’s attorney, which is Virginia’s equivalent of a district attorney.
“Sometimes Soros will come in with just, you know, one or $200,000 for a DA, for Descano, the money truck really back got backed up for him,” Capital Research Center Investigative Researcher Parker Thayer told The Post.
The Hungarian-born left-wing financier has spent millions on political races supporting far-left candidates via his vast array of philanthropic organizations and political action committees.
Soros has donated at least $35 million to district attorney races across the country since 2016, according to Thayer.

“What Soros realized was that you could dump enormous sums of money into district attorney races, especially in the Democratic primaries in deep blue cities and he could essentially pick the DA because the Democratic candidate is almost always going to win,” Thayer said.
The woke prosecutor has been embroiled in controversy after Sierra Leone migrant Abdul Jalloh allegedly butchered 41-year-old mother Stephanie Minter at a Virginia bus stop last week.
Jalloh, 32, had a lengthy rap sheet including rape, assault and grand larceny charges — over a dozen of which were dropped by Descano’s team.
This is not the first time that Descano let a violent illegal immigrant off easy.
In 2022, Descano allowed Honduran migrant Denis Humberto Navarette Romero to plead down to a misdemeanor when he was on trial for assaulting a Herndon police officer. Descano made the plea deal without any input from the police department.
Romero, 32, who had had a lengthy rap sheet with charges ranging from drug possession to sexual assault, went on to allegedly rape a woman on a popular hiking trail outside D.C., he is currently being held in prison awaiting trial.
“Descano’s incompetence at the law and indifference to victims is by design — he is executing the playbook his donors gave him to sacrifice the public on the altar of radical pro-criminal ideology,” Virginians for Safe Communities President Sean Kennedy told The Post.
